Inspired by sonic world-building and an urge to document my surroundings, I capture and manipulate field recordings to create new sonic environments. To find various sounds, I will go to extremes like climbing mountains or going down a crevasse with my audio gear whilst always keeping an eye on safety measures.
During my independent three-month research project in Canada, the USA, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, I captured the sounds of national parks, volcanos, deserts and other natural phenomena. To do this, I would go onto long strenuous hikes or climb to the top of a crater. This project has taught me to improvise with minimal equipment to achieve the best possible outcome in unpredictable environments.
